Calmoseptine an excellent multipurpose skin barrier cream

One of the best multipurpose skin barrier creams is Calmoseptine. Consisting of topical zinc oxide, this multipurpose ointment is easy to apply, provides immediate symptom relief and is relatively cheap.

Calmoseptine can be used to treat a number of skin disorders including:

Dry skin
Itchy skin
Chapped skin
Diaper rash
Minor burns
Abrasions
Bee stings
Treat skin around ileostomy or colostomy
Diaper Rash
Leakage around feeding tubes or other catheters
Rash around genitals resulting from bladder or bowel incontinence

Calmoseptine is also combined with various creams to relieve itching, pain and burning that is common with hemorrhoids. The consumer should understand that Calmoseptine does not function like an antibiotic but is best considered a skin barrier cream. In hospitals and homes, it can be used to treat skin dryness and rashes from any number of causes.

Calmoseptine is easy to apply and does not have to rubbed or massaged into the skin. In general, Calmoseptine is best applied as a light film and should be applied twice a day. Prior to application, the skin area should be cleansed with warm water and padded dry. Today, Calmoseptine suppositories are also available for use in people who have hemorrhoids or rectal discomfort from anal fistulas.

Calmoseptine should be avoided around the eyes, nose or mouth. If the ointment does get in the eye, thoroughly wash the eye with water for 10-15 minutes. Calmoseptine should not be applied on completely raw ulcerated skin, open wounds or profusely bleeding wounds.
